As part of the PharmaSMaSH project, we will work with the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory at Queen Mary University of London to conduct testing on sample products from the three pharmaceutical types we’re researching.  

This testing involves Forensic Chemical Analysis to determine the chemical components of pharmaceutical products and to determine whether or not they contain active pharmaceutical ingredients in the stated proportions and quantities. 

This will provide important insight into the quality, safety, and efficacy of self-managed pharmaceutical medications. 

We plan to publish the testing results, working on harm reduction principles, to ensure people can access reliable information about the products they obtain informally. 

This work will begin in mid-2026 and we expect to publish test results by early 2027.
